Week 8 Recap (Thanks to Jason)

The Commish Sez: This weeks Recap is brought to you by Jason, Manager of the Watchmen. Good job, buddy!
Team of the Week: The Watchmen – It seems like cheating to award it to myself, but at 114.5 points the Watchmen showed that occasionally they can be brilliant, with their second week this season being the top scoring team.

Tough Luck Team of the Week: Tough call since there were a lot of close matches and hard losses this week, but my vote goes to the Vikings who lost by a half point to Ragazzi Pazzi, allowing The Bad Boys to advance to the top of the league.

Player of the Week: Maurice Jones-Drew  (RB Jac), 30 points, Bearpaws-  MJD’s 177 yard, 2 TD game contributed almost a third of the ‘Paws points for the week. Jones-Drew continues to be one of the strongest running backs in the league; this is his 3^rd week this season with 30+ points in a game, and his second game in a row. Against the Chefs next week, it looks like he’ll be going for 3 straight weeks of record scores…

The Sure, it’s a win, but…award: Again, a lot of teams had awful luck this week, but The Wildcats had several missing players until the commissioner stepped in to help their manager out on game day. Helping the Wildcats meant that the Dark Knights took a loss that could have easily been a win by default. Having injury issues and not one, but two players scoring in the negatives didn’t help GCDK, of course. The Wildcats advance to .500, but…

What Could Have Been: The Vikings could have set a season record 139 points had they started their optimal line-up; they left a whopping 57 points on the bench.


Other Great Performances:
The Watchmen – Defense – Chicago (26 points): Da Bears made a mockery out of the Browns, and scored their owner 26 points in the process.
Gotham City Dark Knights – Quarterback – Brett Favre (25 points): Old Man Favre saved the day with a crushing 25 point game in his old house.
The Vikings – Running Back – Michael Turner (21 points): With the exception of week 5, Turner has been pretty quiet this season so it was good to see him back in the swing of things with 151 yards, a TD, and 21 points for the Vikings.
Ragazzi Pazzi – Defensive Player – Julius Peppers (13.5 points): Ragazzi Pazzi had the best defensive player in the league this week, with a sack, a forced fumble, and a defensive TD that gave him more points that some (a lot) of QBs and RBs.
